Below are answers to common questions. Join our email list for occasional updates or contact us directly at info@vermontbreakfastonthefarm.com.

Q: How often do you have Breakfast on the Farm?
Vermont Breakfast on the Farm is held one time each year. The event date for the following year is typically announced in February, with tickets being available in the early spring.

Q: Who should attend Vermont Breakfast on the Farm?
A: Everyone! These are great events for anyone who is interested in learning about dairy farming and how dairy is made in Vermont. Over 100 volunteers from the dairy community in Vermont are stationed throughout the farm to answer all of your questions. This includes dairy farmers, educators, veterinarians, cooperatives, brands and more. You can ask them real questions about how dairy farming works and get real answers. For many people who come to the event with concerns about dairy farming – a chat with a farmer helps them to share their concerns, ask questions, and often they leave the conversation with a new perspective. There are also many kid-friendly activities including a sandbox full of corn seeds, games, free dairy-themed giveaways, and lots of opportunities to pet the cows and calves.

Q: How do I get my ticket?
A:
Tickets are free and required for the event. Because the event is held on a working dairy farm with live animals, safety is always top of mind. Timed tickets for the event allows us to control how many people are on the farm at any given time.

Q: Do I need to print my Eventbrite tickets and bring them to the event?
A: No, you do not need to print your tickets. We will have your name saved in our online database with Eventbrite and will check you in using the name(s) you used to book your reservation. If you booked multiple tickets, all tickets will be under your name. You’ll just need to let us know the number of people in your party and your name when you arrive.

Q: What if I am late for the arrival time I booked?
A: If you are late (or early) for the arrival time you signed up for, that is okay. We understand life happens, and we will still have a spot reserved for you and your guests no matter what. Though your wait time for the tour may be a little bit longer than usual.

Q: I have small children. Do they need a ticket?
A: This is a great event for children of all ages! Tickets are free for adults and children, but please get a ticket for everyone in your party who will need a seat.

Q: What’s on the Menu?
A:
We’re trying something new for 2025. Instead of the traditional breakfast, we’ll be hosting a mini food truck festival. Food will be available for purchase. Note that not all vendors will accept cards, so bringing cash is encouraged.

2025 Food Trucks:

  • Chez Poutine: gooey cheese curds, rich gravy, and crispy fries alongside hot dogs
  • Taco Truck All Stars: Authentic Mexican tacos (Gluten Free options)
  • Wagyu Wagon: premium beef topped with cheese and other toppings
More local favorites to be announced soon!

FREE dairy treats will be available for all visitors, including cheese, milk, and ice cream.

Q: Do I have to purchase food?
A:
No. While food will be available for purchase, it is not required to attend the event. Vermont Breakfast on the Farm remains a free event, with free interactive activities for children and their families. If you would prefer, bring a picnic and enjoy a day on the farm!

Q: What will I see and do at Vermont Breakfast on the Farm?
A: Each Breakfast on the Farm event is a little different, but many of the activities are similar. No matter where you go you will get to tour the farm, see animals, talk with farmers, and enjoy a great variety of Vermont-grown and Vermont-made products! Check out the farms page for more detail on the farms.

Q: What should I wear to Vermont Breakfast on the Farm?
A: Vermont Breakfast on the Farm is held rain or shine. Remember: this is a farm and you will be spending time outside. We recommend temperature-appropriate clothing, and comfortable closed-toe shoes. You should be prepared if there is rain. We will also provide booties to go over your shoes when touring the grounds. This will keep your shoes clean and keep anything that might harm the animals out of the barns.

Q: What should I bring?
A: It depends. If you are bringing young children, you may want to consider bringing a stroller or carrier as there will be some walking involved. Sunscreen and a camera are recommended. You may want to bring an umbrella or poncho if rain is in the forecast.

Q: What if I’m disabled? How will I be able to enjoy the experience?
A: On many of the farms, there will be concrete throughout the barns which will make maneuvering in a wheelchair easier. However, there will be unavoidable dirt or grass areas, as well. For those unable to navigate the farm, there will be golf cart tours available that will be driven by our volunteers. If you are comfortable riding in a golf cart you can request one when you arrive at the welcome tent.

Q: Can I bring my dog to Vermont Breakfast on the Farm?
A: With the exception of service animals, dogs and other pets are not allowed on the farms during the events.  This is a biosecurity practice aimed to prevent disease transmission; protecting the health of the livestock and other animals on the farm. We also will not allow your dog to wait in the car! There is no access to shade in the parking areas. Please leave the family pet at home.

Q: Can I campaign at a Vermont Breakfast on the Farm program?
A: We invite elected officials and candidates to take this opportunity to increase knowledge about modern agriculture production and issues, and actively participate in the farm tour. However, political campaigning is not allowed at a Breakfast on the Farm program.
– Elected officials and political candidates are invited and encouraged to attend and are welcome to help out as a volunteer if desired. All volunteers wear the provided Breakfast on the Farm t-shirt, and can wear an individual nametag, button or hat.
